Why Do They Smear?

I spent most of yesterday re-learning about the Civil War from Ken Burn’s documentary and it is quite fascinating how much of history is repeating itself right before my eyes. The hatred, the ignorance, the fear. And the pain, so much pain.

I don’t pay too much attention to the news, nor do I watch a lot of tv other than movies and documentaries but think that not much has changed in the time since the war. People are still outwardly racist. People are drawing lines in the sand. People are talking about war and martial law.

How could this be? Have we not learned? Have we not grown? Or is this all just how it should be?

The Warnock/Ossoff side speaks of equality, environmental and racial justice.

From the ads that are on tv, Perdue/Loeffler smears and pushes fear and uses quotes that are clearly out of context (a simple search on the internet will clarify the misquotes).

Why?

If the seated senators have done so well for their people, why don’t they just remind us of what they have done and what they will do rather than use fear and lies? What kind of politicians uses fear to motivate people to vote for them? Are these the kind of leaders we want in America? What kind of people fall for such tactics and why?

What have we come to if this this the politics of America?

If we are to avoid a civil war, we need better leadership.

The GOP has got to go and with them the archaic philosophy of fear, hate, and injustice they seem to blindly embrace.
